Two-time champ Fernando Alonso may leave F1 for IndyCar

Fernando Alonso is a two-time Formula One champion, and he raced in the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in 2017.

There has been speculation regarding whether run in more IndyCar races in 2018, and Alonso hasn’t done anything to quiet those rumors.

Alonso responded to a tweet from the IndyCar series regarding him joining the series with a cryptic gif and and emoji, which hinted that he plans to remain quiet on his future for now.

Alonso said there was more camaraderie between IndyCar drivers than Formula One drivers, which furthered the speculation about him changing to IndyCar.

Alonso said he will announce his decision in September, which means he has likely already decided on what he’s going to do.

A move to IndyCar would be huge for the sport, and the 36-year-old Alonso would be a welcomed addition to the IndyCar series.
